Application for Limited Practice: Instructions
Limited practice is only permitted based on NDCC 43-32-19.1 and NDAC 66-02-01-16 for individuals with a license in good standing from another jurisdiction. The license must be as a psychologist, I/O psychologist, or applied behavior analyst, and primary source verification must be completed as part of the application process.

Limited Practice Certificate versus Telepractice
NDCC 43-51-05 Limited Practice without a license - Permits the in-person limited practice of psychology/ABA based on a license in good standing in another jurisdiction. The Limited Practice Certificate is NOT a license from/in North Dakota, it is recognition that the practitioner is licensed in good standing elsewhere and entering North Dakota to provide limited services. This ensures the protection of the public in North Dakota.

NDCC 43-51-03 Indirect Practice without a license - Permits remote practice to individuals in North Dakota provided the telepractitioner began the professional relationship in person in the jurisdiction where they are licensed. Jurisdiction of this practice is based on the development of a professional relationship in another jurisdiction and the extension of services via remote means upon the patient's presence in North Dakota. This ensures the protection of the public in North Dakota by extending jurisdiction of our Board to providers licensed elsewhere who have established a care relationship as defined by this law.
